At The Lewis Foundation, we believe in the power of kindness, connection, and giving back.
We met a wonderful lady named Marie while she was receiving cancer treatment at Luton & Dunstable Hospital. She had received one of our gift packs during treatment, and we stayed in touch.
We later found out that Marie works for Phoenix PCN Luton, which focuses on social prescribing—helping people improve their wellbeing by exploring community-based activities rather than automatically turning to medication.
Marie runs a weekly Friday group where people come together for different activities, and they had been saying they’d love to volunteer—but couldn’t travel to take part. So, we brought the volunteering to them!

We set up a gift-packing session where the group helped put together packs to be distributed to cancer patients in their local hospital. The impact was amazing—people coming together to support others, sharing conversations, and finding purpose. The oldest volunteer was 93, which just goes to show that anyone can make a difference!
The group has already asked when the next session will be, and we can’t wait to do it all over again.
This is what social prescribing is all about—helping people feel connected, valued, and part of something bigger. A huge thank you to Marie for making this possible.
We love seeing people come together to help others. That’s what The Lewis Foundation is all about. Thank you for continuing help spread awareness and support for The Lewis Foundation, which helps us make a difference in our community.
