Fundraising guide

You are reading this guide because you want to make a real difference to people diagnosed with cancer. Whether you already have a fundraising idea or are just getting started, every effort helps The Lewis Foundation continue delivering comfort and kindness to cancer patients in hospitals across the UK.

This guide will give you ideas, inspiration and practical ways to support the charity through fundraising.

How you will help us make a difference

Every fundraiser helps The Lewis Foundation continue supporting adults diagnosed with cancer and their families in hospital.

Your support helps us deliver gift packs to hospitals, organise wellbeing events for patients and provide moments of comfort during incredibly difficult times.

Here are some examples of the difference your fundraising can make.

Fundraising ideas

There are many ways you can raise money for The Lewis Foundation. Whether you are fundraising on your own, with friends, through your workplace or within your community, every effort helps us support more cancer patients.

Here are some ideas to help you get started.

Dress Down Day
Organise a dress down day at your workplace or school where everyone makes a small donation to take part. It is a simple and effective way to raise funds while bringing people together.
Nominate us as your “Charity of The Year.”
This allows business or organisations to support the charity through fundraising events, awareness campaigns and community initiatives.
Ask for Donations
Instead of gifts for birthdays, celebrations or milestones, ask friends and family to donate to The Lewis Foundation. Many supporters choose to do this through online fundraising pages.
Sponsored Challenge
Challenge yourself by taking part in a sponsored challenge, whether it's an abseil, run or skydive.
Host a Sweepstake
A sweepstake can be organised around sporting events, office competitions or community activities. It is a fun way to engage people while raising funds for a meaningful cause.
Do An Activity
Take on a personal challenge such as running, cycling, walking or swimming. Sponsored challenges are one of the most popular ways to raise money for charity.
Raffle or Tombola
Host a raffle or tombola at a community event, workplace gathering or fundraiser. Local businesses are often happy to donate prizes to support charitable causes.
Workplace, University or School Fundraising
Schools, universities and workplaces can support the charity through bake sales, sponsored events, charity days or team challenges.
Host Your Own Event
Organise a fundraising event in your local community and help make a real difference. Whether it's a quiz night, charity dinner or coffee morning, there are plenty of ways to get people involved.
Head or Beard Shave
A sponsored head shave or beard shave can be a powerful way to raise awareness and funds while showing solidarity with people diagnosed with cancer.
Wish List Collector
Support the charity by collecting items from our wish list, used in our hospital gift packs, organised through community groups or local businesses.
Don’t Forget Gift Aid!
If you are donating personally and are a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid allows the charity to claim an additional 25 percent on your donation at no extra cost to you.
Paying In Your Money
Once your fundraiser is complete, you can donate the funds through our website or contact the team for guidance on how to pay in your fundraising safely.
